The rationale for Academic Mentoring is to support the professional growth of the individual who is in the early stage of their career and to promote excellence in teaching & learning, research and academic leadership.
A mentor is an individual with expertise who can help develop the career of a mentee. The mentor guides, trains, advises, and promotes the career development of the mentee.
Career Functions: Help the mentee learn the ropes and prepare for career advancement.
Psychosocial Functions: Help the mentee develop a sense of competence and clarity of identity.
To facilitate the learning for students who are having difficulty with learning with respect to understanding and recall of subject contents remedial classes will be conducted on particular subjects. Respective subject teachers may adopt other methods such as conduct of quiz, group discussion, tests on different topics, assignments, solving the important questions, solving the
previous year question papers, presentations etc. Also they are encouraged to write assignment on different subject related topics. The advanced learners are asked to give seminars. For advanced learners depending on their performance in practical’s and on their own interest summer research projects were allotted and also GPAT classes will be conducted. Advanced learners are encouraged to attend workshops, quiz competitions and conferences.
