Overview of the Department

The Department of Pharmacognosy is established in the year 1990. Dept of Pharmacognosy has experienced and highly qualified staff members including five Professors, one Associate Professor, and two Assistant Professors. The Dept. imparts quality education to undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students.

The department of Pharmacognosy carryout isolation and characterization of active principle of natural products. Also, perform pharmacological screening of natural products to check biological efficacy like antiurolithiatic, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, antiarthritic, antiulcer. Currently, other effects such as isolation of anticancer drugs, and nano particles from natural agents are being investigated in many plants belonging to various families.

The faculty members are experienced, attended and presented several research articles in international conferences. Staff members have published numerous research articles in reputed scientific international journals.

Department of Pharmacognosy has got funds from different funding agencies like AICTE, ICMR, UGC, VGST to carryout research and to purchase of equipment.
